Laraby Garlic in 2024

With a new calendar year upon us, we always like to take a moment to reflect on our previous year’s accomplishments. From spreading our wings and integrating new varieties into our stock, managing warmer than usual harvesting temperatures to furthering product development and crop utilization, there was no shortage of increasing our knowledge base for the love of garlic! This love and passion, we pass onto our valued customers.

Raw Garlic: ALL NATURALLY GROWN

As we roll into the 2023 calendar year, we are excited for what lies ahead. This year we have chosen to broaden our offering of varieties of raw consumable garlic. These varieties although some in limited quantity this year will extend to include:

  • Red Russian
  • Georgian Fire
  • Leningrad
  • Newfoundland Tall
  • Majestic
  • Music
  • Crème De La Rasa
  • Rose De Lautrec

Garlic Powder And Salt(s):

With (3) seasons of testing our line of garlic powder, garlic salt and seasoning offerings, we have been able to refine our craft by leveraging a specific variety, offering a product that is well bodied and bold to compliment any cooking style.

Garlic Scapes, Fresh, and Frozen Minced or pieces

Each year for a very limited time we have Garlic Scapes. They are wonderful to add to anything for a light garlic flavor.

Black Garlic:

Last year, was our first year in formally introducing Black Garlic as an offering. A lot of testing on varieties, including soft neck was performed. In the end, we can confirm that manufacturing Black Garlic from hard neck variety(s) delivers a far more elegant end product, pack with robust flavour. We have confirmed we will be making this product available again for this season. In addition to Black Garlic bulbs, we are excited to roll out our additional product line of Black Garlic powder. This powder offers an amazing taste to compliment almost any dish, especially gravy stock.

We will be looking to roll out some additional product lines later into the season and encourage our valued customers to check our website and keep an eye out. Thank you for taking the time to read our update and look forward to meeting all of you again this year!

About Garlic

There are over 600 named varieties (and counting) of garlic which are grouped into two main subspecies — ophioscorodon (hardneck) and sativum (soft neck) — and then typically further classified into the following ten major categories for types of garlic:

Hardnecks: Asiatic, Turban, Creole, Rocambole, Porcelain, Purple Stripe, Marbled Purple Stripe, and Glazed Purple Stripe.
Softnecks: Artichoke and Silverskin.
